How GurmukhiOCR handles uploads, OCR processing, retention, and your account data.

This Privacy Policy explains how GurmukhiOCR collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our website and OCR services.
Who we are
GurmukhiOCR is an online Punjabi / Gurmukhi OCR product. Contact: contact email.
What the product does
You upload PDF or image documents. We run optical character recognition (OCR) using Google Cloud Vision, store results so you can review and edit them in the app, and let you export text (for example as a .txt file). One credit normally equals one PDF page or one image processed.
Information we collect
- Account data: email address, authentication credentials (via our auth provider), username, and profile settings
- Uploads & OCR outputs: original files you submit, extracted text, edits you make, page metadata, and export artifacts
- Usage & billing metadata: credit balances, OCR job status, timestamps, and purchase records from our payment processor
- Technical logs: IP address, browser/device info, and security or error logs needed to operate the service
How files are processed (OCR)
- You upload a PDF or image while signed in.
- We store the file in our cloud storage associated with your account so the product can show and re-open it.
- For OCR, a temporary processing copy may be sent to Google Cloud (Vision / temporary object storage) to run recognition.
- We store OCR text and page results so you can review, edit, share (if you choose), and export.
- Temporary Google Cloud processing objects used for a job are deleted after successful OCR (or cleaned up when a job fails permanently), subject to normal cloud eventual-consistency delays.
How long we keep uploads
Account files and OCR results remain available in your account until you delete them in the product or request deletion. We do not currently auto-delete account documents on a fixed schedule solely because of age.
Temporary processing copies used only to run Vision OCR are removed after the OCR job finishes successfully (or after terminal failure cleanup), rather than retained long-term as a separate archive.
Backups and logs may retain limited residual copies for a short period for reliability, security, and legal compliance before they rotate out.
Security & encryption
- Connections to the GurmukhiOCR website are protected with HTTPS/TLS in production.
- Uploads and OCR artifacts are stored with our cloud providers (Supabase storage/database and Google Cloud for OCR processing), which provide industry-standard transport security and provider-managed storage protections.
- Access to your files inside the app requires an authenticated session. Sharing features grant access only to accounts you explicitly share with.
- No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we take reasonable measures appropriate to a SaaS document product.
How we use data
- Provide OCR, editing, export, collaboration, and account features
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug reliability issues
- Process payments and credit balances
- Optionally improve product quality—we may use uploaded files, extracted text, corrections, and related usage information to train, evaluate, and improve GurmukhiOCR features. We do not sell your data.

- Payment processor — checkout and receipts for paid credit packs

Deletion requests
To request deletion of your account files or associated records, email contact email from your account email. We will delete your data except where we must retain minimal information temporarily for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or accounting reasons.
Children
The service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). Do not create an account for a child below that age.
